Martin & Ottaway

Founded in the Netherlands in 1875, Martin & Ottoway provides ship surveying and marine consulting services all over the world. They were looking to update their identity and develop a website that could be used as a platform for blogging and social media.

The logo we developed can be interpreted two different ways depending on the viewer — the letters M and O are fairly obvious in the logo but to those who work in the maritime industry, the circle and an intersecting horizontal line are also representative of a Plimsoll Line, a marking painted on the hulls of ships used to measure the ship's displacement in the water.

In addition, the website we developed using Drupal CMS with various modules including blogging, tag cloud, LinkedIn integration and on-the-fly text to PDF conversion. We also created a full stationery system, email newsletter template, hard hats and online event invitations.
