USS Juneau Memorial Center - Kearny, NJ

Client:
County of Hudson

The USS Juneau, a light cruiser, was built in Kearny, NJ by the Federal Shipbuilding Company in 1941. On November 13, 1942, she was sunk by Japanese torpedoes during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. 687 young men perished including all five Sullivan brothers and 20 men from Hudson County.

On November 14, 2013, 71 years later, the same building that laid her keel was dedicated as the USS Juneau Memorial Center. We feel honored to have developed the design and signage for the event.
